About
Recently named Limelight Magazine's "Singer/Songwriter of the Year" in 2013, Amanda McCarthy has been building an impressive resume and career and continues to prove to anyone who ever said otherwise that she doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon. With a natural intuition for networking and talent that money can't buy, she's become one of New England's top teen/young adult regional acts and hopes to expand that even further.
Mostly self-taught, Amanda not only sings but also plays guitar, ukulele, piano, and various types of percussion. She holds an impressive repertoire of original and cover songs, having written over 200 songs of her own and prepared cover songs of various genres and decades to have a little something ready for everybody.
Of course, every girl writes happy bubbly songs about falling in love along with the necessary bitter break up songs, but don't be fooled - Amanda's original music also tells stories of friendship, life, death, as well as overcoming bullying and other personal obstacles she has faced. Infectious originals like "Awkward" and "Just Last Week" leave fans singing long after the show ends, where others like "Sticks and Stones" and "Boston Calls" really hit home and leave a lasting impact on listeners.
In just a few short years, Amanda has worked her way from an aspiring teenage songwriter, to a professional young adult always working to expand her music career. She has played some of New England's top of the line venues and festivals including, but not limited to: Boston's Hard Rock Cafe, Six Flags Theme Parks (New England and NY), Faneuil Hall, Topsfield Fair, Fryeburg Fair, Boston Greenfest, Champlain Valley Fair, Foley Stadium, the Middle East, and has even had the honor of singing at the MA State House in Boston.
Her music has been played on radio stations nation wide, as well as in Canada, the UK and Australia. Her songs as well as songs she's written for others have won a multitude of awards. Amanda has even had the pleasure of sharing the stage with artists/bands such as Charlie Farren (of the Joe Perry Project), X-Factor's Jillian Jensen, American Idol's Erika van Pelt, Adam Ezra, Sarah Blacker, Love Via Dance Machine, Ahmir, and many other gifted artists she has met along the way.
Amanda's ultimate goal is to use her music to help others. She is an active advocate for anti-bullying movements and is always happy to dedicate her time and talent to a cause of any kind.
"I obviously understand that making money is important to sustaining a career, but at the end of the day, people aren't gonna remember you for how much money you made. If I can help just one person with my music, that to me is worth more than money could ever buy. I am blessed to have the chance to meet new people all the time who can really connect with my music, and let me know that it has helped them in some way."
